I need a D16y8 engine 1.6L SOHC engine for my 2000 civic. I have a good head, so I can use just a block also.
I would be willing to buy a complete swap if the price was right. I would need an engine + automatic + ECU to even consider. I could get my own CV's and mounts. Please if you try to sell me an engine over a $1000 it better have very low miles. ![]() Last edited by mfgrace; 06-04-2008 at 07:17 AM. Reason: typo |

If I were you I would find a B16 from a Civic Si of the same vintage. It will bolt right in if you get all the mounts and accesories.

Well, If its a complete swap then it should have the tranny. $1000 for a K20 I'd go ahead and swap it because that is very very cheap for a complete swap. If its just another motor say forget it and look around at some junkyards around you for another D16

Cheap for the engine, yes, but there's a reason: that's not the good engine. It has the economy VTEC system, not the hi-po version. It's short about 50 hp to the K20A2, which is in the RSX Type-S. The B16 is a direct fit, absolutely no fabrication required. And if you have to swap the trans, you might as well go for the manual. It will save you more money in the end.
And if you think you will be getting any decent Honda engine for under one grand, you are seriously kidding yourself. Anything that cheap will have over 150K miles. Or be a total turd with no power and no potential.

You can find D series engines with under 100k miles on them easy for under $1,000 if you know where to look. So I disagree with you there. You just need to be patient and know where to look. Just find out what junkyards around get wrecked Hondas in and out all the time and check there daily. I kno someone that found a tranny (i kno not the engine) for an F22 Accord for under $250. The tranny worked perfect and was rebuilt. Only had 20k miles on it since it was rebuilt.
