Default 2005 CR-V handling issues

recently I made a hard right hand turn and heard a "pop" around my front driver's side tire area. Nothing is obviously out of place and the tire pressure is all correct now, yet it still seems when I take tight corners (especially downhill) that the sterring is loose, that the car seems unbalanced and that it is gaining too much momentum (like transmittion is not downshifting, yet no lights are coming on). In general the car seems unbalanced now and doesn't handle right, any ideas on what could be happening? Breaks are older but was just into dealership and they did not advise replacement. Thanks!
