Unhappy VSA lights & 2007 Honda CRV

Hi, this is lengthy and I'm sorry if there are any info that might seem useless but I like to detail as much as possible. So I have an 07 Honda CR-V LX that for a couple of weeks now keep having the VSA lights turn on. At first there weren't any other issues. Called up the dealership and they told me when the light pops on, to come over and they can take a look at it. It was tempermental so it wasn't always showing up. It did pop up and then I took it to a dealership by my work (Lake Mary) and left it there, the guy said it was due to 3 of my tires losing thread while another tire is slightly new (had a flat tire a year ago and replaced the tire). It caused aggressive turning of the tire. He said he reseted it so it doesn't pop up but my best solution is to replace at least one tire. It was also said it is not a safety issue but a stability issue. So I figured, I needed new tires anyway and replaced all 4. This was two days ago. The light still pops on, but now the shifting gear (the stick to change it from park to drive, reverse, etc) gets locked. I have to jiggle it and try a couple of times before actually being able to get it out of park. So I took it to the dealership by my house (orlando) and dropped it off since they were closing for the day. Had to borrow my car so I can drive to work. So I get a call saying before they even start anything there is a $75 diagnosis fee. Over the phone, I told them they have extended warranty but the guy said that doesn't matter. I didn't have this issue a couple of days ago. My car is approx 39.5k-40k, so my original warranty doesn't cover that. Again, it baffles me that the other dealership didn't ask me for that when I dropped off my car.

So my questions are:
- Where can I get a free diagnosis of why the VSA light is popping on?
- Is there any way I can do this myself?
- Would my extended warranty help me at all?

I'm really if that was so drawn out, but I really don't have the $75 to pay for a diagnosis if it was another reset issue or something painfully easy. If there are any other questions on the situations, let me know, I'll try to be as technical as possible.

I can't be of much help but I wanted to let you know we are having the exact same problem with our 2007 CRV and we're taking it to the dealer on Friday to have it checked out. We started out with the VSA light coming on seeming when I turned too hard. For some reason my husband doesn't turn too hard. But now the light comes on fairly quickly and stays on regardless of who is driving. And now also we have problem shifting from park. My husband had to look up in the manual how to get around it. I don't think this had anything to do with your tires. I was worried it was b/c we recently had brake pads replaced and the non-dealer who did it may have tripped something but that doesn't sound like the case based on your post.

If you want to wait until Friday I can let you know what our dealer says. I can't believe the dealer wouldn't look at it to see what's wrong. With the shifter having issues I can't imagine this is actually a simple reset to be honest.

Well for us it was the brake light switch that was broken. And apparently our brake lights weren't working either. Cost $71 at the dealer's to fix. So you might have someone check that. I wish a different light would have come on instead of VSA I would have had it checked sooner probably.
