Default Any tips on lowering a Pilot?

I'm wondering if anyone has dropped their Pilot or knows where to get some info on doing a drop. Thoughts?

Dropping a Pilot? Thats an interesting thought -- I guess you dont do much off-roading? =)

Its just a matter of new suspension to lower the car permanently. Another thought would be air ride suspension. I wouldnt do that on a race car but they have that on some of the larger stock suvs so you can lower or raise the suspension inside the car depending on where you are driving.

Here's your answer...don't.

Seriously, very few people have lowered Pilots because the pimp factor is low. Like Camry low. And even lowered they still have that Honda SUV persona (aka not a real truck. Sorry anything that's unibody and has no solid axles isn't a truck). I'm not sure what kind of suspension Honda uses under the Pilot, but my giess is it is some sot of MacPherson strut suspension. Those don't take well to lowering. My guess is you will have to spend a lot of money sorting out the suspension geometry so the thing will drive right. If not, you will have things like bumpsteer, a bad ride, poor handling, and weird tire wear. Honda's "trucks" weren't built to be messed with. I'd find a better candidate if I were you.

How about Acura air-ride suspension... might fit a pilot.

I like Beaters pimpfactor equation:

size(inverse)2 * weight(inverse)2 * your ability to wear cool sunglasses (scale of 1-10) = PIMPFACTOR

Haha no seriously you can find something that will work for you but you are going to spend some money. Realize your smooth riding pilot will have a much different ride quality. This can definitely be done because I have a few friends with dropped suvs on racing syle 20s.

I would do it, it is original and would probably look pretty neat. I believe they have the same suspension as the cars. So all in all it would go pretty easily. Just swapping springs, struts and a camber kit.

I don't want to slam it. i don't really want the pimpfactor. it has chrome rims but i only went to 18s from the factory 16s, it has the chrome bumper garnishes from honda and running boards but i don't go too flashy with my mods - i've already had too many tickets so better if law enforcement isn't looking at me!

I had an 88 accord hatch and dropping it just an inch - inch and half made a huge difference. It cornered better than the 2000 prelude i owned at the same time.

cuz it isn't a real truck (i agree with definition) it already handles pretty good but some more improvement wouldn't hurt.

i've heard air-ride can be a problem for cold weather...? true? especially cuz this is my main ride in the winter and it gets stupid cold here.

Good question regarding air rides. I would think that the air volume would change with air temp and have an impact. That said, my buddy had a stock acura suv with the stock adjustable suspension (i think its air ride) that you can change on the fly and he had it in NYC -- never had an issue.

The new air suspensions are pretty good. They update their height every 30 seconds or so, so they will readjust to temperature on their own. That would be a good option, if you have 2500 to spend (more to get it realigned properly). Plus you can adjust the height much more easily.

I can't read that reply. It seems (based on some of your other posts) you are just doing random advertising. Are you selling a lowering kit for the Pilot? Then I'd be interested in your response. If you are just wasting everyones time with your advertising, imo, a pretty common feeling would be that you pfo without the p.
