I have heard that the best years to buy the Tl are from 2004 to current, that the previous years had many Tranny issues. I even read it in the consumer reports, is there any truth to this? I was looking into buying one just wanted to make sure I was in the wrong year to buy.
If anyone knows any truth to this please let me know. Janine |

I just bought a 2003 S-type TL. What I did is I checked the history of the vehicle to make sure there was no problems. You are right about comsumer reports. However they also said that the 2003 is one of the best vehicles for your money. I am happy with my 2003 and no tranny problems to-date. At 60000 miles it should have happened if it was going to happen. I hope this helps and good luck with shopping for your TL. Scott |

it seems as though Honda had a lot of problems with automatic transmissions in their larger engines during that time period, kind of like Toyota is having now. Seems like their older transmission designs just weren't ready for big torque yet.

from what i have heard from the techs at work it is the lack of lubrication in the tranny. i have seen the pumps inside go out and also the way it was designed that is the problem. it does not supply enough trans fluid to the 4th and 5th gears depending on what vehicle it is.
