Default 2002 RSX-S test drive

Last weekend I went to a used dealership and test drove a used RSX-S, unfortunatly the dealer did not seem trustable, but here is my take on the car:

Background:
2002 RSX-S, blue, 115,000 miles

Notes: Clutch was about to go, tires were new, but they sucked

Performance: The RSX-S had a good amount of power, and I could feel the VTEC kick in. It also felt pretty strong even at low RPMs, did not get to test handling.

Ride: Up front it wasn't bad, headroom was about the same as on my dad's 05 accord. Stalled the car due to the OEM rubber floormats . Rear head room was just a little short for me, although I got a nice headache from a pothole. Front suspension felt fine, but the rear definatly was too bouncy to be comftorable, I don't know whether this is design or miles.

Space in the hatch for cargo was suprisingly good, and the sound system was much better than that in the accord or s2k, but not as good as the one in the RDX (RDX sound system )

Loved the color, but the paint was very streaky, like tons of little white scratches, and the wheels were pretty good (better than the new Si) except for the curb rash.

Overall, would have liked it if it wasn't for the slippy clutch that made it impossible to drive in parking lots (high engagement point), bouncy suspension, and small rear seat.

Thanks for the review, I'd like to pickup a used RSX one day.

Overall they are very good cars, especially performance wise, but for anything other than short trips mark them down as 2 seaters

*one quick note, the speedometer was hard to read because the numbers were very small, 60mph is like 1/4 of the way up the speedometer. It almost yells speeding

Wow thats a crap load of miles! I got my '03 about 6 months ago with 40k! I def wouldn't have bought that one. A good clutch would run you around $600-700 for the kit. The RSX is known to have stiff suspension set up, so that may have been what u were feeling, I swapped in some Tein Springs and the ride is damn stiff! Keep looking, u can prob find one for around 16k
