Default Electrical problem unless it's raining

Unless there is a pouring rain outside the light around the ignition where you put the key, the overhead interior light and the door chime don't work when I open the driver side door of my Prelude.

I have checked the switch in the door and that does not seem to be the problem. Everyone I have spoken to said this was probably the source of the problem so I dropped 22 dollars on a new one, but i still can't get these to work.

The fact it works when it rains makes me wonder if it is a grounding issue. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I have not experienced this, but your assessment of it sounds more logical. I know it's usually more expensive, but have you taken it to a dealership?

Also, what year is it? Could there be some aging factors involved? I'll also email my brother--highly accomplished electrician--and see if he has any info. If he does, I'll post it.

Hmm, that's strange. My dad has an Accord, and his lights and chimes stop working when it rains hard. It sounds like a grounding problem all around. What year is your Prelude? The Accord in question is pretty old, a 1991.
