On my prelude I am able to pull the handbrake far higher than I think it should be going. I have tried adjusting the nut at the backside of the lever by removing the console to get at it, but it seems no matter how much I turn this nut it doesn't tighten the handbrake - or rather - after tightening it loosens again after only a few trips. Any ideas?

Has it always pulled up higher than you thought it should, or is this something new that is going on? It sounds to me like the nut and bolt may be stripped, and that's why it either doesn't tighten or works its way loose very quickly. If this is something that has always been, I don't think I would worry about it too much, but if it has just started happening I would suggest taking a good look at the nut and bolt and see if they show wear. If they do, a new set will likely take care of the problem.

Could be a few problmes
1. nut and bolt are stripped 2. cord is stretched 3. might need adjustment from the rear drums.

Or possibly your rear brakes may need to be replaced. Have you been trying to 'drift' your FWD with the use of a hand brake or anything else where you would have to "rip" it hard in order to stop? |
