yea i agree with that. Without the movies to show people what could be done most would still never even know about it.

^^^ The first line of your signature cracks me up.

I think people would still be "ricing" cars out no matter if the movies came out or not. Its just the fact that the movies have lead those people to think that it's "cool"... when clearly, it's not. Depending on your own personal opinion I guess. Some of those cars in those movies, were actually clean. Keyword: SOME. I don't know. Either way, rice is trendy for people who don't know any better... and it'll stay that way for a while I'm afraid.

Thats true but on another hand it also helped out the import scene. Some people realzied that the import scene is there just kind of in a way underground. This movie inspired some people to build nice clean cars. As well as people to put huge ass exhausts on cars and 10 story wings. It all depends how you look at things I guess. I kind of look at the F&F movies as a neat thing for the fact it made the import scene what it is today. The F&F movies helped speed up the process of the import scene coming out of the underground. I honestly think that Need For Speed games lead on to ricers more than F&F did...

exactly

and hears my two cents
the movies show what street racing really is right
but when you see the other racers you just see the nice cars and the and the people with the passon for what they love to do , theres nothing bad about it

now the whole drugs and crime and stuff is only with the main people because there has to be a story in a movie or else it's not a movie
but the way they set up the races, even when the other guys loose they give up the cash / car, they still shake on it like the way it should be
thats how it is down hear only the cars arnt that tuned but close haha

you are probably right on that one. I know a couple of people back in El Paso that went "Rice" because of that game.

Yes there were some extremely clean rides that appeared in those movies, but to that 16 year old that just bought his/her first civic, all he can see is the stickers (vynal), the spoilers, body kits, rims, lights. . . .really didn't touch on too much of the internals. . . Now i'm not saying that every one was like this because yes there are kids out there that actually have a working knowledge of how cars work and how to get them fast, but my point is that this was almost their ticket and brought another spotlight on the whole RICE scene and made it more popular, even cool. . .

The "hero" cars in the F&F movies are actually pretty good. Like the RB26 powered Mustang in Tokyo Drift was real. Well they built one but for all of the action scenes they used V8 Mustangs. And the EVO from that movie was actually RWD and built by Rhys Millen Racing. But I agree with TnT, most people who see these movies just see the pretty paint and shiny wheels. They also see the thugs and think that just because it's illegal, they should be badass when they go out and do it themselves. Which is a shame. I've heard that the Philly street racing scene is now really scary because of the F&F movies (I've never raced there so I wouldn't know. Besides Philly is a scary enough place as it is).

On the other hand even if Vin Diesel drove up to a real street race in the Supra from F&F1, he would get laughed at. Because that car is just too slow to need that wing!
