Here is what I have been working on recently, while I try to find a functioning power steering hose for the Sil-Eighty. It may not move but it was fun and a lot of work. For anyone old enough to remember lead models (my dad, but not me), this is the same thing but made from an alloy that doesn't contain lead. I had to cut out all the parts, file them, paint, and then glue it all together. It took 5 rounds of paint and 4 rounds of gluing to do. About 5 evenings worth of work. The hobby store near me (Mitchell's for those near the DE area) is going out of business, and when I saw this I had to buy it and try my hand at metal models. I've done a few in plastic, but never this small, and never with this much effort involved. I'm hooked. I have one more of these and 2 trailers to build too. And I am probably going to pick up a motorcycle, another dragster, and a dragster/trailer/pit crew combo later on before the store closes completely. Then if I really get ambitious, I will build an entire vintage drag racing scene.
