I believe all states require them, but some do not enforce. In Texas (I lived there for 24 years, you need to have one on the front of the vehicle and can get away with one in your front window -- same here in IL. If you get pulled over, just tell them you had body work done and they havent put it back on yet. This has worked for me 4 times so far and I never drive with a front plate.

the front plate looks ugly on a car but jembr it might work if you have a fairly new car if you have any scratches or spots with no paint it aint gonna work unleass you tell them you just got a new bumper

I'm Suprised you all were getting hit in TX for not having a front plate! I ran all over that state without a front plate and was pulled over a few times for speeding, but they never mentioned anything about not having a front plate. I even took the front mounting brackets off. I figured if it where a big deal I would have got nabbed out in El Paso because they try and pull you over for anything, but still I was there for 4 years, 3 different cars and never got picked up. I know Maine (where i'm originally from) you need one, ether mounted or in the windshield, NJ (where the family lives) you have to have one or else it's some dumb charge of Improper display of plates, but Tx never gave me a problem.

Oklahoma doesn't require one either. Been pulled over in alot of states that do, but never been ticketed for it.

Its basically if the state gives you two then you do have to and if they give you one then it only needs to be in the back. I haven't gotten a ticket yet, and the cops are everywhere here but when I got my car they never gave me the thing to put the front license plate up. so its just sitting in my glove compartment.

Supposedly if your car comes from factory without the place to put a licence plate. you are fine... if there is where to put your licence plate is up to your local laws if they let you or not drive around without it.

Well i used to live in tx where u gotta have a plate on front and back. and if u didnt have a place on the front for one u have to make or pay soneone to make something to hold ur plate on for u. people that have plastic bumpers would usually just screw them into the bumper
