I was riding behind my friend (him in a pickup truck, me on my ex500), and the road we were on was recently under construction and although most of it was good, we just hit one of those strips of tar. Right after he passed it he suddenly slammed the brakes for no reason at all. I grabbed the front brake which didn't scrub off any speed half because my glove got stuck and prevented me from grabbing full brake, and half from the brake not working right (bike is in the garage and parts will be ordered soon), rear brake hit the tar and completely locked up. btw, I was about 2.5-3 seconds behind him at 30mph when this started. Anyways, I obviously wasn't slowing down at all, with no front brake and a locked rear wheel.
I steered left, and just got around his side (thank god there was no opposing traffic), and slid to a stop smashing the horn. He just laughed and drove away, I then stopped him and talked to him (well, by talking I mean ripping his door open and yelling WTF), he said that he just wanted to see how I would react. I mean, I felt kind of bad for yelling, but slamming the brakes on a person riding a 17 year old bike who has only been riding for about 3 weeks, WTF, if it wasn't for a lucky slide I would have smashed into the back of his truck. btw, I would also like to thank those who write about proper riding techniques on the internet, if I didn't know about looking away from the truck and at the escape route who knows what would have happened.

No your not wrong to freak out at your friend for that...
btw what type of truck is it, b/c Pa has a lot of raised up trucks and so... on a lighter note... if it was like some monster truck, you could have just went under it. or if it was a lowrider truck, you could have like yanked the throttle, do a wheelie, and stop in the bed of the truck, or gone over it. (idk how, if it was an intercepter you could probably Vtec it in) ![]()
