Yoo. Did anyone see the Yahoo news about street racing? Dude they crush your car if caught racing on the streets. And that is why they need a 24 hour track.. talk about crushing dreams!!

I think it's great. They need more strict rules on street racing - way too many innocent lives are lost due to this.

News story:
Cars crushed in street racing crackdown - Yahoo! News

Few good excerpts...

"Most of the cars police examine are illegally modified. Sergio Zavala, 18, was pulled over in his 1993 yellow Honda Civic for a broken tail light in December. He had purchased a B-20 Vtech engine with a double-overhead cam a couple months before, and after a police investigation, was told it was stolen."

"Hoang said he was caught late last year racing his prized car, on which he spent at least $10,000 to get into top shape. The 350-horsepower engine topped out at 160 mph, Hoang said, swearing it could beat a Corvette or even a Ferrari.

When police popped open the hood, Hoang said, they found a stolen transmission. Hoang flashed a receipt for the transmission he bought from his father who runs an auto shop and doubted the item was hot.
"

"The 18-year-old mechanic said a vehicle identification sticker apparently fell off and without it, police suspected some of the parts were stolen. Maldonado stood several feet away from his car as it was pounded into a heap of metal. " ! Yeah right the vin plate 'fell' off?!?!?!?

The lesson here...

Either dont get caught...

Or buy from a reputable dealer so your stuff isnt hot! All three had stolen items on there car!

honestly even thou the **** was hot unless they suspected the whole car to be hot i dont think it is right for them to do that.. if only one or 2 things is supposed to be hot then the cops should rip them outta the car and throw the dude n jail for a while not crush the cuz most time ppl buy hot stuff cuz it cheaper..its not right but i still dont think the cops have the right to crush all that money and hard work...and i agree cops do need to crack down but not that hard.. they also need to build at least one track in each state (not jus drag but like road courses and stuff..

lol, so thats why they crushed his car, overinflated ego. yeah, a 350hp 160nph car will beat good vette's a Ferraris

either way, from what I heard this is only in one are of the state, and its for stolen parts for the most part, not street racing. Still, I don't think crushing cars is right, but at the same time something has to be done.

I don't think this is cool on any level. Yes, something has to be done, but destroying a person's possessions is just...

I crashed my '97 accord a year ago. That car was my life. When I saw it at the junkyard, I fell to pieces.

Default hmmm

maybe car-crushing should be reserved for repeated offenses/persistent offenders.
