If so, can you explain whats the deal with my two situations?
Ok heres the story. Normaly I have no problem with our local law enforcement. Ive only had 2 actual tickets in my 9 years behind the wheel. But within the last week Ive had two situations. (1) I was in a small town not to far from my house, picking up a peice from the local advance auto. In town, the speed limit is 35. Im not gonna swear I was doing 35, cause I honestly dont know. I go through there all the time, and dont always pay attention to my speedo. I do know that I was following another vehicle, and had been for quite some time. Anyhow, there was a tight "L" curve comming up, and as the car in front of me and I were about to enter, a cop comes around the corner, and almost instantly pulls his blue lights, turns around, and pulls me over. I ended up with a warning citation, for 52 in a 35. Explain this if you can, but I raise the BS flag on this one. I honestly dont believe they had any reason to pull me over. I was thinking (a) ok, how was I going near 20 miles over the limit with a car in front of me? Unless the car in front of me was the one speeding...which brings up (b) how could they tell it was me, not the car in front of me? Especially considering the sharpness of the blind curve they just came out of. Then my thoughts turned to (c) "well, if I was really doing 18 miles an hour over the limit in a residential area... I somehow doubt Id have just gotten a warning" - *Shrugs* Anyway, I figure cops have to prove the worked somehow, so I just helped some guy keep his job ;-) But really, to anyone who is a cop, did he just give me that warning simply because he personally believed I was speeding, but knew he had no case for a speeding ticket? (2) Situation #2 happened tonight... and really was more agrivating. My RX7 is a work in progress, but its to the point that I can take it out every now and then and just enjoy it. Tonight was clear, and not to hot, so I opened the sunroof, rolled down the windows and just drove it around for a bit. I had the radio on, but not turned up by any means (its still the factory POS that only works right when it wants to lol). Anyhow the route I drove included this little loop around one section of town thats mostly countryside. That loop takes up about 2-3 miles, and includes four roads (including the one in front of my house) to form a big square. Now, if my house is in the bottom center of the square, this cop started tailing me at like the top right hand corner of the square. Going around the square. counterclockwise....He follows me all the way back to my house, turning where I turn, and never being more than a few feet off my back bumper. He was close enough to my back end that I could see the chrome in his grill and could only see the top of the license plate they keep on the front of the cars. My question to anyone who happens to be a policeman... What was this guy thinking? I wish I could have written him a ticket for following to closely lol I was honestly paranoid that when I put on my breaks, this cop was gonna rear end me. He had to swerve into the center lane (a passing lane) when I pulled into my driveway, simply because he didnt give himself room to stop. I wasnt hard breaking either, I was doing it slowly (for his benifit and cause I like my 7's back end the way it is). Any officers wanna answer the question of what he was doing? Was he trying to provoke me into speeding? Was he running my plates? My back tag says 1986-RX7, so its not like its hard to read lol. Was he honestly trying to get me to let him rear end me so hed get out of the night patrol duty? The world may never know... lol I relayed the above situation to my mother tonight... she came up with the perfect solution.... Around here, were blessed with alot of open countryside, and backroads. If it ever happens again, Im just going to go on a drive, and turn off on side roads randomly, to see if the cop will follow me like he did tonight. Im not gonna try to lose them with quick turns or anything. I want them to follow me.. and get thuroughly lost and\or run out of gas in the middle of nowhere Thats my rant for the night lol if anyone, officer or not, cares to comment. im not cop bashing, the ones Ive met around here are good country guys. But it seems like lately theyre trying to give me a ticket lol

welcome to the life of a hard core car enthusist! It will happen more and more as your car looks less like stock and sounds less like stock. Dude it happens here all the time. One time a cop was tailling me like that and i stop on the shoulder. He goes to pass me then parks in front of me and asks what i am doing. so i asked him the same question. he says what do you mean. and i am a smart ass so i say dude i have a camera in my car that was on with the time, date, and your plate as clear as day. If you really want to f@*k with me go ahead but your ass will be jobless by the end of the week because you are abusing your job and harassing me because of my taste. He say "watch yourself pal" and left. So back to the point it will happen and if you get pulled over always ask for the radar print if they say they clocked you. legally they have to give you a copy if no copy then he can't write on the ticket radar. if they do take it to court but make sure when you sign you write on the ticket, "no radar print" even if they don't mark radar. I am not a cop but i have delt with there bs for a long time

Thats good information right there. Although Id say its more like 'welcome to the life if a car enthusiast in his 20s' ... I hate to think of the attention the cops will give after my stingray is done with the motor install lol
