Default Anyone had rear windshield shattering?

Just the other day my rear hatch window shattered for the second time. Just wondering if its just my car that has bad luck. I have the type-r style hatch cover so I am thinking the heat from the engine and then washing it had something to do with it. I was getting it washed when all the sudden after the rear hatch was shut it shattered.

If this happens again then I am getting a lexan winshield.......

You're not dropping it shut, are you?

Uh kinda but not hard enough to shatter it......I push down and just let it fall in place. I ask Jon Martin if there was a proper way to close it but he said it was ok with the way I was closing it.....by the way I did not shut the hatch.....it was the porter who was washing my car.

I have the Type R mesh cover, and I have no problem with it so far. Perhaps your "Kinda" drop close might have something to do with it. Maybe it's time to get a lexen hatch?

Wow. Sorry to hear of your problem. I don't have an engine cover at all, but you've really concerned me. When I close my hatch, I gently lower it into place and then gently push it into a lock position.

Keep us informed.

The heat could be it, but I doubt it...heat has more effect on metal than on glass.

i would think the problem would be that your slamming your back door too hard, or maybe some one did it on purpose. I would reccomend getting a stronger type of glass windshield

heat and then cold water could have somethng to do with it, but it would shatter the minute the water hit it, not after.
