This morning we were awoken by our neighbor telling us that our back window
of our Honda was shattered. At first we thought it was vandalism, but after a closer look it wasn't. The window had been blown out from the inside out. We took it to the Honda dealer and it was checked out by a Honda rep who just happened to be visiting that dealership. He said that they had never covered a shattered window under warranty. Also that the window shattered due to a dent just underneath the window. The dent caused undo pressure to the window. I don't believe it for one minute. They'll say anything to get out of paying. The dent had been there for over a year now. His reasoning was that it could happen at anytime. Again. I am not buying it. Now, we are responsible for paying for the shattered window. Honda will not pay for it and will give any excuse why they are not responsible. |

The only way a dent will cause a window to blow out is a severe dent that actually has the window in a bind. I have seen a truck where it was rear ended and pushed the bed into the back of the cab and smashed it pretty bad. Needless to say you could see the window was in a bind and it never broke. We removed the back glass without it breaking and reused it. So I seriously doubt that a small dent put your window in enough of a bind to blow it out.

When I brought home the hatch for my Integra, it was warped and had no cracking or damage. I put a weight on one corner and bent it back into shape. I've notcied that newer glass, for whatever reason, seems to be really weak. My dad as gone through 2 windshields on his Toyota (it's less than 3 years old), and my 1986 Integra still has its first (well it needs a new one now, but 20 years and 250K miles is still **** good). And we always slammed the rear hatch. No cracks, and still original.
