Question best motor options...

I purchased a 93 Integra LS in the summer , loving it, but its just not quick enough.. Now I have read the other threads about buying a ITR motor or just putting a b16 V-Tec head on the b18 block. So im basically asking the same question , but I have a 91 B18 motor and tranny sitting at home. What would be the cheapest? Build that 91 b18, or go out and buy a new motor? From the prices that I have seen, a Type R motor and tranny would cost around $4000 (from Japan). But would a H22 ( JDM around $1650 - $2000) or a K20 basic (JDM from $1200)be better options then mentioned above? Im new to Honda motors and just want to know whats the most bang for my buck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It probally would be better to try to put a VTEC head on the B18, unless you have the $$$ for the Type R motor, it will be a better motor, but it costs a lot of money

The H22 will probally mess with your handling, as its a heavier motor

k20 basic = no real VTEC, and it would be a fairly complicated swap, I would hold off on the K unless its the k20a2 or z3

From reading the hp and torque numbers the H22 has roughly 200 HP and 150 to 160 lb torque. Now correct me if im wrong but wouldnt that take care of the weight gain?? Its not like im putting a V6 motor in, still a 4 cly. Cant be that much more weight can it?

Weight distribution is very uneven and makes the car very hard on front brakes. A H22 is probably the worst swap you can do into anything other than a Prelude IMO. Just go B16 or B18 VTEC and you will be happy.

I hear a lot about those K20a2 swaps.... I would preffer one of those over the ls vtec ( if i had the money). 220 hp stock.......heard of many people getting 240hp just from remapping the ecu. On top of that, the short geared 6 speed tranny helps distribute.

Cash is the soul reason it doesn't get my recommendation for this project. It is very very price. Plus, it's not 220 at the wheels, 220 at the crank - 17%.

Ya, no money for the rsx-s k20, but im definately going to look at getting a v-tec head for my b18. I just dont know where to look yet.. Everyone out here seems to drive caveliers and volkswagon ... Where would be the best place? I have seem a v-tec head and a v-tec head installation kit (going for around 300, came with oil line and gaskets) on ebay, but i dont know wether or not to trust that. Any suggestions?? thanks again

My friend used Ebay and his worked but I personally don't use Ebay. Call www.Passwordjdm.com or Specializing in JDM-USDM Engines & Parts...hmotorsonline.com and see if they can give you a hand.
