Just out of curiosity, why did you put in a carbeurated engine? That's like a 40% power loss over one of the B18s.

reason i put this engine in is because its what the zx comes with as standard and i didnt want to mess around putting a different / bigger engine in there and changing the ecu etc would be a pain so i just replaced it with what was in there in the first place.
i know its an odd setup as im having a hell of a time trying to find info about it but to be clear i ran the old engine out of oil so i just replaced the broken engine with an identical engine from another integra zx

Well carbeurated cars don't use ECUs. So what do you mean by setting up the carbs? Jetting them?

this might help you guys a bit more, YouTube - Honda / Acura Integra zx Idle Problem after engine change i have to rev it a few times to keep it running then when it does the ide is going up and down on it own. when you do rev it it takes ages to come back down and it sounds like the car from mad max at the back ( make the whole car shake )

I'm not very good at carbs (I'll take EFI any day), but it sounds like your jets are too big and you're getting too much fuel. Can you lower the fuel pressure at all? That would help.

Possibly a vacuum leak and then it seems you have a dead miss. I would check for a vacuum leak first then check your fire on all cylinders.
