Default Advice HElp!! car doesnt sound too good.

Eversince I did a recently oil change on my integra, that a day later it started making a really loud noise coming from the engine. I checked the bottom of the car and didnt tighten the bolt enough and so i did........looked at the bottle and notice that I got a non synthetic oil since I already had synthetic in it before. Do you think that noise had something to do with the oil?

Sure do, you don't wanna switch from full synthetic to conventional. It will cause leaks and damage

Second what Primetime said. Standard motor oil swells the rubber and seals in an engine (gasoline does the same thing. I found this out the hard way when I went to replace my fuel pump and my car failed the gas tank pressure test). Synthetic pulls all teh tiny debris left behind by the regular oil and shrinks the seals (it basically super cleans them). and of course leaving you drain plug losse doesn't help either. Compression test it ASAP, you might have missed the bullet if you catch it right away. Switch oils immediately too.

You'll notice a difference in the engine, the switch to synthetic, to me...well if felt like the engine was smoother, almost felt like it rev'd quicker...P.S.- Sometimes honda's burn synthetic at high rpms...put in alittle more than half a bottle of Lucas Oil Stabilizer [my personal opinion]

Well I'm paraniod, when I switched mine I bought like 25 quarts of synthetic. I emptied the conventional, then filled it synthetic, went for a 20min drive and changed the synthetic again with more synthetic. After about a week I changed the oil again, once again with synthetic. Basically I purged the engine of conventional oil.

-Once you choose a synthetic oil stick with it, my step-dad makes the stuff, its not all the same...not saying if you go from mobile1 to royal purple its going to hurt the engine...but why take that chance?
