nah....they're good....but keep in mind that Castrol is a marketing company. They buy other manufacturer's oil and sell it. One time you might get Valvoline, the next you might get Mobil 1. They only buy good oil....but they don't make their own. Royal Purple, Redline, and Amsoil are premium, high end oils. They're expensive, but they're really really good.

Mobile 1 is hands down the best for the price. Its not too pricey and its good quality.

so how much oil did u lose? how long have u had a rod knock? also did u change to a lighter weight oil. and how hard were u driving ur car? i did a motor swap for a kid that had a slight rod knock didnt know or just didint pay attention to the sound. he changed his oil and a few days later was out f-ing around and spun a rod bearing. thats why i asked those ?s. to me it sounds like it might be a rod or main bearing. how many miles are on the motor? i would treat ur car nice until u could put some money together to rebuild the bottom end

Default if u plan on rebuilding ur block

i just recently had that nasty noise coming from my enginei had just done some head work, new piston rings, and rod bearings. had about 800 miles on the motor and one day felt a lil froggy. decided to race this pontiac grand prix. in second gear was about half a car and was pulling ahead shifted about 82 or 8300 well to make a long story short i didnt hear that awful noise until we slowed down.that ****en made me $400 well spent the guy said he could hear it before i shifted. well pulled the motor back apart and saw the #1 rod bearing was pancaked got close to spining it.ended up having to get a crank kit(rod bearings main bearings thrust washers and reconditioned crank) and having the rods recon. another $350. the motor now sounds tighter than a virgin and runs like a raped date. spins to 8 grand no problem. the moral is dont drive it like ur gonna drive it everyday i.e. like me from stop to speed limit as fast as possible. GIVE UR ENGINE TIME TO BREAK IN unless you got a blueprinted race motor ready to rock from the gate. take ur time and wait until u have the mula to do it right the first time.
