With 4" of water I would drive that all day. To suck in water with a cold air intake you have to totally submerge the entire filter under water. That would be about 1 1/2' of water.
The bypass might make you confident but it actually does no good. It doesn't open in time to do anything. The intake will act like a straw and just suck the water in as fast as you pass through it. And I don't see anyone purposely driving through a foot and a half of water unless if t hey are trying to total their car.

No matter what brand it is.. Its an ebay brand they're the same when it comes to making power. But honestly I have an ebay intake on my truck and had one on my accord and couldn't tell a difference at all in performance dude. I know your just trying to save money but in the long run your just wasting money because your going to decide to put a name brand on. If I still had my Accord I would prolly be running with an AEM or Injen intake right now.. Don't waste your money and put some money into it. Also you appreciate your car more with name brand stuff on it. Also you'll have stuff to brag about to your friends.

The real difference between name brand and off name brand is installation. Your non-name brand intakes aren't very stable under the hood. They put stick into the intake and have a filter on the end and they usually get heat soak rather quickly. The name brand intake systems are more secure under the hood by anchoring them down to a stock bolt or something and they don't get as heat soaked so you get more power.
Only reason I know that is because I had a toucan intake on my car when I was N/A and after I went to an AEM cold air there was a slight change in power and it was much more secure under the hood.

Injen is a good brand. I have heard of Bomz but that's not a popular brand.

All 3 of my cars with new intakes were short rams. And most of the CAIs I've seen were set fairly low. The AEM valve works quite well. The owner of AEM was more than willing to let Sport Compact Car magazine test it on his NSX. The pictures speak for themselves. Yes nobody uses an Intake tube that long, but the water is still low enough that it would work on a regular car.

I would go with the Injen. Thats the one I have on my daily driver and it fits beautiful. It is very secure under hood and looks great.

Default the choice depends

There are a lot of factors that can affect the choice between CA and SR. I live in Minnesota and the air is already plenty cold for about 80% of the year. Having a SR is probably better for me. I am a mechanical engineer, I don't design cars but I do HVAC. Having a longer pipe into your intake increases the static pressure (which is bad), basically its like trying to drink from a longer straw. The benefit is that you can draw slightly cooler air (most of the time). I like short rams better. 1) with the shorter pipe the airflow is better giving better throttle response and HP. 2) the air near the ground isn't always the coolest, ever walked bare foot on black top in mid July. 4) there is always the hydro lock issue, which can be preventable 5) also you have to take into consideration the exact SR you are using and the car that it is going into. when my car is traveling 60mph there is plenty of ventilation to cool the engine and bring in fresh air to the intake. Plus the filter is already pretty far away from the engine. I’m more like to suck heat from the headlight than the engine. also the heat shield does a good job of protecting the filter from hot air. also name a production car that has ever come with a CA stock. It is probably better to have a SR intake with a hood scoop or a cowl. that way you have fresh air coming in, and a short effiecient pipe. but like i said, depending on the car a CAI could be a better setup, its a little hard to draw a definitive line in the sand. sorry for the crappy writing and lack of flow in my paragraph, i'm and engineer not an english major, but i think most of you get the point.

Yes we do! Thanks for your input and welcome to the site. Feel free to browse and comment as you see fit. Personally, I'd prefer a cai with very few and low degree bends. Even if it won't help as much as I think it would....I'm stubborn.

down here the summers are pretty hot and winters are well not too cold and not hot so i dont know i think the best choice for me would be CAI considering i wanna get the most hp out of the engine i can

do you guys think with the CAI its really nessesary to buy the air bypass valve to minimize the chance of hydro lock since the filter is down by the ground?
