Default VTEC doesnt function!!!!

Hi everybody, I need a little help!!!
I have a Acura Integra 91, i buy this car like 1 moth ago, this car have a swap or here in Costa Rica we tell a FRANKIE MOTOR, this is a 1.8 litter with a 1.6 vtec......

My question is? Some times in the 1st and 2nd gear the Vtec doesnt function my friends tell me when i do like a sprint when the VTEC opens my car start throwing like smoke!!!!!!

What may be the problem!!!!! Thanks for you help

You have an oil leak. Probably bad piston rings. VTEC needs oil pressure to work, so if the engine is blowing oil through the pistons, then VTEC won't engage and the engine will smoke.

That's expensive. You may just need rings, you may need an overbore and new pistons. Either way you will have to tear down the engine and rebuild it. That is not cheap. $1000 (american) or more. So you can either buy a new motor or repair this one. I would rebuild this motor, since you will end up with something brand new as opposed to gambling with something from a junkyard or imported.
