Default Some Questions About the DA/DC

2ish questions: I'm looking at a 1992 Integra GSR, but don't know much about that specific chassis. It needs a new trans, so will an LS trans from 1995 Integra work? My old car won't go for much, so I might part it out. Or would it be cheaper/easier to have the old trans rebuilt (I don't know what's wrong with the GSRs, ad just said it needs rebuilding). Also, will the DC2 front bumper fit onto a DA? I don't like how the DA looks, so I was thinking about swapping front ends. I know it will take some fabbing, but I want to know if it's even possible.

It may fit but I guarantee you 100% a transmission from a 95 LS will not perfrom like a GSR transmission, will be a complete waste of time and you might as well buy a GS...

Goto some local parts stores (ricey ones) and see if they can order in the JDM transmission - shouldn't cost you through the nose (go for a used one) and will perform a bit better too.

Regards.

Is there really that much of a difference between the two trannys? I thought they were more or less the same. There's no LSD, so I wouldn't be losing that.

Any other good trans swaps i can find then? Anything from a junkyard that would fit?

GSR has a higher performance transmission, while I'm sure the LS would PROBABLY fit (not 100%) it would be a waste of effort in my mind because you'd be losing out on the higher performance gear ratios and have sedan based gear ratios in this GSR thats ready to ****en fly...

I ask, because it's hard to find GSRs in junkyards. I need some options so if i do go with this car, I can afford to fix it. If fixing the old tranny runs about the same as finding a replacement and installing it, then I will just get it fixed. I don't have a lot of spare cash (unemployed college kid), so I need to keep an open mind when looking for parts (ie, my strut bar and engine mounts were both 1/2 off).

the ls treans will bolt right on just the gear ratios are different and u will actually have a higher top speed with the ls than the gsr u just lose a little accleration but its not enough to worry about add a cai and exhaust and u just about make up for the different gear ratios in accleration

So it does fit on good to know...but I know there is more than a slight difference in acceleration, and slapping on a CAI and Exhaust would cost him in the range of 800-1000 bucks and as he just explained he's a bit tight on cash (im in that same boat paying off my RSX) so while I suppose slapping on an LS is doable according to you, he's losing out on more than a little acceleration and it obviously sounds like rebuilding it is an affordable option for him.

IMHO if I forked out the cash for a GSR over a GS, LS, RS, etc...nothing but a GSR or Type-R part would touch it.

My trans question has been answered: The seller put in an LSD and the motor's a B16. So if I buy it I guess I'll stick with the same tranny. What about the front end? Will a DC2 bumper/hood/fender fit onto a DA? Has anyone ever heard of this being done (I haven't, but hey I can't be the only one who's thought like this).

Check out some of the Civic forums - I saw a post yesterday with a guy who fit an old camry bumper on his old accord or civic or something - had dodge neon side skirts and some other domestic backend - so if you're planning on doing the work yourself do some measurements see if it will work or what you may need to adjust and drill some holes :P

Professionally, I don't know places that will do that kind of work.

I'm helping fab up a new race car chassis. I think plastic will be a step down from chrome-moly. Thanks for the info guys.
