Thumbs down Please Help

I have a 1992 Acura Integra 1.8 auto and after i warm her up and put her in park the idle jumps back and forth from 800rpm to 1400rpm.

Is this when it's cold outside? All cars have an idle system that adjusts the RPM to warm up the engine. The early systems in the 80s/early 90s are pretty archaic, so that could be it. My '86 Integra would rev it's engine for about 5 minutes on a cold day to heat up and if I put it in gear, it would actually coast like an auto even though it's a stick. Either that or a broken thermostat. Either way, fixing it isn't going to be fun, so I'd say take it to a shop, they can figure it out.

Have your theromostat checked thats what it sounds like it is to me. My friends car was doing that and his was also overheating really bad because this was happening in the summer so the crazy RPMs were making the car overheat..

You may also want to take a look at your iac (idle air control) valve. I had a similar problem and that was the culprit. Its located on the back of your intake manifold, it should have 2 coolant lines and a plug.

ktcnapa... high probability that it's the air valve, my 95 civic does that too... and considering we both live in ATX and it's relatively colder than normal, I attribute it to the weather.

my integra did the same thing. my mechanic said that it was my idle control sensor. i later found out that one of my vacuum lines was disconnected and when plugged back in this fixed my problem
