Hi, I'm the proud new owner of a Generation 2 1991 Acura Integra GS 4 door. My car is a 5 speed manual which I'm pretty stoked about, and though it's completely stock, seems like it has plenty of get-up-and-go. I was wondering however, if anyone could tell me anything about this car (Does it have the V-tech engine? Any problems I should watch out for, ect.)? I was also wondering if anyone could suggest any mods for the car. I'm more of a performance guy,and was wondering if anyone has any mod suggestions. I want a quick car that can give my friends Volkswagen Jetta VR6 a run for its money. I'm also a highschool student on a limited budget and don't want to blow a ton of dough to get a fast-er car. I already plan to instal a high quality AEG or K&N intake (should I go w/plain, or cold-air?). Does anyone know if you can buy a "chip" for this car? My friend has one in his VR6 which is supposed to free-up more horsepower, add torque, and improve timing, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any reasonably priced performance chips for this car. Any info you could give me would be great
Thanx, SFC |

If i were you I'd go to ebaymotors.com you can get col air intake systems for a lot less, they won't be name brands though. but they work just as well. the same thing for the chip. just search something like "91 integra cold air intake" or "91 integra performance chip" oh, exhaust is anothe uppgrade you could do. its a little bigger wad out of your pocket, but totaly worth it.

You really have to ask is it worth dumping money into a car this old? a four door none the less, i understand that your stoked as was I when i got my first car, even though it was a mazda.
I remember wanting to hook it up and what not, but then i changed my mind. I used it for what it was worth and saved my money for something newer, nicer, and somethign with more after market parts.

if your not trying to spend alot of money you can always go to ebay for cheap after market parts. and keep the car cause it is way better to have and older car to mod.. trust me!! my friend has the same car and its pulling 11sec at the track as for an engine swap i say go with a 1.8 acura non vtec they're strong motors that can take alot of abuse

DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT buy the "ebay performance chip", its a 20cent resister purchased at radio shack that does absolutely nothing for your car except ruin your mass airflow sensor.

I have a two-door gs, same year. I highly recomend that you keep this car. The LS motor has alot of potential. I would start with intake headers and exhaust, in that order. This should be enough to ruin your stock clutch in a few months (hehe), In which you shall replace with a high performance.

You said a chip increases HP, TQ and changes timing...The change in timing it the reason for the increase in power.

Buy a K&N cone filter, NGK Iridium spark plugs, a can of Engine Restore, some real tires and wheels, and maybe a brace or two. Then check for rust and head it off now before it goes through the entire car.
As for the LS motor, it only has a lot of potential if the head has been swapped to VTEC. And even then, the B18C block is much stronger and can handle more power than the LS. Last edited by 8695Beaters; 01-03-2008 at 02:36 PM. Reason: Addendum |
