Default RS, GS, LS or GSR?

ok i bought my 93 teg about 2 weeks ago and the guy told me it is a LS. now i know it has a B18A1, 5spd, power windows, manual door locks, cruise, sun roof, power mirrors, steel wheels with wheel covers and no rear spoiler. If im not mistaken the LS is just below the GSR but im not 100% on that. if any one could shine some light please do. could tell me know if my teg is a LS or some thing else? Thanx RJ.

If knowledge serves, you are correct. I believe the LS was the trim below the GS-R from 1991 to 2001. Before that, there was no GS-R.

If my friend informed me correctly, the LS was the second trim level. The order was:

RS
LS
GS
GS-R

The biggest reason most people wanted the LS over the GS is simply the overall weight of the car. The GS weighed as much from the factory as the GS-R, but had the LS motor. From my understanding, everyone figured "Why get a GS when I can get a GS-R?" or "Why get the GS when its the same thing as an LS but weighs more?"...

If Im wrong, then sorry. But from what I was told, it makes sense. It would also explain why you didnt get a rear spoiler or alloy wheels.

Congrats on the purchase, those are my favorite years for 'tegs.

I thought it went RS, GS, LS, GS-R. I really never sweat trim levels except for Si and Type-R. That's just me. I mean once you pull out all the luxury options, the LS RS and GS are pretty much the same car. I also thought that there was no GS for the second gen. Am I wrong about that?

I'm almost certin its RS,GS,LS,GS-R on that too correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think that the GS has a B18.Vtec...I'm pretty sure it has a B20 Non-Vtec

no, the GS had the B18A1. The B20A5 (B20 non-VTEC) was in the early-model Prelude ('88 - '91)

...I know because I owned a GS. It was a 1993. If thats a second gen ('90 - '93), then I guess so. Ive always been more of a Civic guy than an Integra guy.

The only Integras with VTEC were the GS-R and Type-R (in America, B18C1 and C5). Everything else was straight DOHC. The first gen was a 1.6 liter (D16A2) and the rest were 1.8 liters (B18A and B18B). Although I think some of the later Type-Rs had a B20 VTEC.

non VTEC Integra is the B18a1, aka the LS motor.

And the ITR was not equipped with a B20 VTEC. The ITR motor is a B18c5. GS-R motor is a B18c1. B20 VTEC was never built by Honda, just like LS-VTEC. Its something us tuners "invented"...
