Cams are are an easy swap that give great power. Or you can go with an intake and cat back exhaust. It's all on how serious you want to be with your car since everyone is different.
Me personally I am a major power adder. As in N2O, supercharger or turbo right off the bat.

Always, always the simple bolt ons. Exhaust, intake, header, pulleys, ignition, fuel system. Those are where the most gains can be had for the cheapest money.
I'm not familiar with aussie cars. Does this one have VTEC? If not, then your first mod should be an engine or head swap. The LS block has potential, but a VTEC engine will always have more. |

also which would be best? turbo or super? and what kind of price range am i looking at 4 the parts and installation? |

turbo gives u more power at no cost to power it doest take any hp to run. a supercharger takes a nominal amount of hp to produce power but its always there a turbo has lag before boost cuz it needs to spool up.

Boosting a car typically makes the engine life go down some because it can increase the wear and tear on the engine..

If you've done all your homework then boosting will only lower the life of the engine way down the road (hopefully after you'e gotten rid of the car). If you have good tuning and a strong fuel system, then day-to-day reliability will be fine.
Superchargers have more torque and are cheaper than turbos. I actually like superchargers, but the comapct scene seems to have this undying fascination with turbos. Turbos have more potential in them for 4-bangers. Both will start at about 2 grand and can run to about 5 thousand or so (American $$$). Two thousand involves a lot of DIY and junkyard engineering though and will be for a turbo, so you may not be comfortable with that setup. A supercharger will almost have to be a kit. I should have mentioned this earlier, but new cams really won't have much of an effect on an engine without the proper intake and exhasut plumbing that can provide the air that the cams will flow. You can only suck so much soda through a straw right? Same thing with the engine. |
