hey all-
i have had this thought floating around my head for a while. would it be better to buy a cat back exhaust system for my car or to buy a high flow muffler, cat, and bigger piping and have a muffler shop put it all together for me? i think the latter would be more cost effective but i'm always willing to pay more to have things done the right way. |

You really need to be careful buying anything off of ebay...speaking from experience. There are a lot of scum bags out there looking for someone trying to find a bargain to mislead them and rip them off.
Case in point...see how many megan exhaust systems there are. How the hell is magen...I thought it was mugen? You really have to read the fine print. Also it would be better to go to a local shop, for two reasons. One, if you have any probs...there LOCAL...not mail order across the country and two...I had my teg done for $75. I had bought the muffler, took it to them and they ran all the piping, welded the joints and installed the muffler and a flex joint...so it was a good deal.

yeah...but the thing I want is a few years old so it is before the 'tainting' period.

yeah, i understand. i was wondering if the power gains would be comparable between the two. and also if removing the cat would harm my engine's performance....i'm afraid of all these new electrical systems :S
