Default What does JDM mean to you?

I understand that in this day and age, the term JDM is just another term that has been beat up so much that it has lost it's true defanition: Japanese Domestic Market.

I am curious what JDM means to you. When you see a car, what makes you say, "it's so JDM YO!!!!"?

Is it the RHD? Is it the Mugen wheels on a USDM car? Is the Canadian SE considered JDM to you?

Just curious about your thoughts.

I know that, and you know that. I am after opinions from the "other side" of the coin. The guy that puts a JDM bumper on his USDM civic and claims he's JDM.

example : HIN Chicago 2006, the winner of the JDM class was a USDM EVO VIII with Bride seats. Now, either the judges don't know squat, or they should quit bobbin on certain teams d--ks!

jdm to me is either the authentic parts from the jdm cars that just make the simple differences between the usdm and jdm vehicles, or the super rare and hard to find little differences between the usdm and jdm vehicles (so minor and rare that it is really ridiculous to some). A car that is jdm to me has minor to major jdm parts that really make the car look clean, crisp, and well rounded. I am a jdm nut and love to find all the hard stuff frist.

I have 96 Civic Hatch that I want to do the JDM Type R motor swap and styling. It won't be a true type R, but it will be close enough. So to me... my car won't be JDM, but the parts will be. A true JDM car is a car straight out of Japan. Not a car that has a JDM lip kit on it.

I'd have to agree with Boxcarracer on this one. When I see a jdm car I know that the person is an enthusiast and has put a lot of time and effort into there vehicle.

I think that jdm means that the car is just like if it was sent for japan to the usa. now if you put all parts for japan on the car from the us that would still be a japanese domestic market part car because all the parts are from japan. If you put some side markers on that would not be a jdm car. that is what I think about that.

I know I'm going to get hung for this, but opinions were asked for , JDM to me is a waste of money why spend more money to look stock, thats just my opinion. I mean some people say why spend all that money in kits rims, stereo and any accesory,my answer I dont want to look like every other STOCK/JDM car on the road. Its like going to buy clothes, food or anything, and there is no variety, everything is the same.

To many many people JDM is a more clean style. Amber side markers and corner lenses. The JDM lip for civics is sexy and doesn't make your car look like rice, or something inspired by the fast and furious. If you get hung I'll edit the post. This was a topic for your opinion and thats what you put. A debate will be allowed, but a odvious flame won't.

I think JDM means a car with time and money in it to bring a clean, yet unique looking vehicle. Certain reds paints also seem the make the car look more JDM
