Anyone know what will work to take egg off a car without ruining the paint. I don't know how in the hell an egg got on my car but I thought it was bird **** which would have been the only logical explaination until today when I asked my husband to clean it for me.

It depends on how long its been on/ if in the sun.
You must immediately clean the car with a water or better yet (1part water/1part vinegar). Make sure to take any egg shell off first because it will scratch your paint if you rub it in. Towel off and repeat until surface is clean. If the egg has been on the surface for an extended period especially in the sun, you cant stop the paint dammage and will have to get the panels this has impacted repainted. Some insurance policies cover vandalism. Hope this helps! =)

Oh I forgot to mention let the vinegar/water solution sit for 15-20 minutes on the egg before you wipe it all off. This will help break up the egg.
In general if the egg has been on in the sun more than 2 hours it will begin to dammage paint.

For future reference, cleaning stuff like eggs/paint/tree sap used to be my job. I found a traditional car wash concentrate [i use Blue Coral] and about a cup of rubbing alcohol takes just about anything off paint. See rubbing alcohol will strip organic materials, spray paint, road paint, and wax off of a car as long as you do it within the first 3-4 days of contamination. Now rubbing alcohol will strip just about anything, but for some reason it wont touch clear-coat...just make sure after you strip whatever it is your trying to get off, give that spot a good coat of wax or two, otherwise you'll get major paint oxidation in that spot. And try to keep i away from rubber and plastic...it fades them if you let it dry on them.
