Honda's Bad Decision
#1 Discontinuing the CRX and then trying to pass the Del Sol as it's succesor. No the Del Sol (sorry to all you owners out there) is junk compared to the CRX. #2 Discontinuing the Civic SI after 1995. I really don't understand what compelled them to do such a thing, but thankfully they righted that wrong. #3 Discontinuing the RSX. I haven't read why they are doin this, all I know is they are. To the best of my knowledge they aren't bringing in anything to replace it as a new smaller sporty car. One of the worst moves honda could make. The RSX is one of Honda's best cars and they are just going to stop it? It maes no sense at all. #4 Discontinuing the NSX. I never really looked at the NSX much in the past, but it was a very nice car for a resonable price (compared to similar cars). They are bringing the NSX back, but it just won't be the same. It may be better and it may be worse, but not the same. |

1) The Del-Sol is a different kind of CRX. I think the crime is trying to pass off the CR-Z as the next CRX. At least the Del-Sol tried to be sporty.
2) The Si is not the issue. The bad decision is discontinuing the Type-R In America and refusing to bring over another. 3) The RSX was discontinued because A) every other Acura cost at least $5K more than the RSX and B) for about $5K less you could by the Civic Si, which was just as fast and handles better (becuase of the LSD). Check my Auto Rant and Ultimate Civic threads about how to build the next RSX. 4) The NSX was killed because Honda broke one of its most basic rules: never leave a car the same for more than 4 years. Apart from a refreshening in 2002, the NSX was the same car sold from 1991 to 2004. By that time, the Enzo Ferrari was available (along with the F-50, the 575M, and the 360M just to name a few), the Murcielago and Gallardo were released, the GT was released, and the Merc-McLaren SLR was released (or soon to be). And the Bugatti Veyron was in its early test stages. All of those cars, while far more expensive, brought way more to the table. More luxury, more power, and much more technology. If Honda had kept up with the ages, the NSX would still be a hit. Now the oldest cars are actually affordable for normal folk. Honda's biggest mistake? I don't think they ahve hit it yet. But realize that every car company will make a few (K-Car anyone?).

Another mistake was there decision to put a faulty transmission in the 98-02 Accord V6 and not offering a stick until 03.

The 6 speed trouble is mostly driver error.

Some of Honda's 6 speed transmissions are pretty problematic, but they did finally release a TSB to cover most of the affected transmissions in regard to the 3rd gear issue.

Atleast they didn't do what they did for the 98-02 AV6. They would just put in another crappy tranny.
