Just the one that connects the header to the exhaust. The secondary cats are a new thing to reduce emissions and aren't needed on older cars. Are you thinking of the resonator in the exhaust? All that does is make the exhaust quieter and is almost exclusive to aftermarket exhausts (the good ones). There's some physics and harmonics to all of that, but a resonator is not an emissions device.

You only have one cat. Every thing after that is a resonator or 2 and a muffler.
