Default 2000 Honda V6 Problems...

Hey first off, new to the site and ive been online for hours looking through all the stuff, its great. I was wondering if i took a video of me starting my accord, could someone maybe help me understand what the problem is... i had thought it was the battery about a week back so i bought a new one... 73$ down the drain ... and it jsut happened again today... i turn the key and it starts up to 1000-1750 RPM's and just dies. Some times it lasts longer before dieing , some times it dosent even start.
Alos another thing is that it dosent always happen. And another clue is that i turen the key, it got to 1500 rpm's, started to die and i revved the engine for about 5 mins and it worked fine. could it be the fuel injector? my friends dad said it might be the oxygen sensors or somthing weird like that... I'll be takign it to the dealer to get it checked... but before i did that i figured i would ask if anyone knew what was wrong. Thanks in advence - Nick

first thing I would do is check and make sure that everything is connected and nothing is loose
and I know you've been waiting for a while now
but just wait a little bit longer untill beaters or someone else comes along
with your answer or with the questions haha

and welcome to hondaclub man

I think the clue is in that it doesn't happen all the time.

The oxygen sensor could be the culprit, but I doubt it in a car that new. Alsl I think the car would run poorly all the time. It sounds more like a bad tune at idle, or like you said an injector. It could also be a bad spark plug (or improperly gapped plug) or a bad wire or distributor. The other thing to check out would be the coolant sensor. You said it calms down after it heats up. So if the collant sensor is going, then it would be easier to run on warmer days.

Of course start off with Marcos advice since it is free and easy.

IAC valve sounds like it needs to be cleaned or replaced just like N1 said.

I read something online about how the ECU (or CPU im not sure... at all... my dad told me and im not all that great with cars) will sort of ... over heat, liker say im in stop and go traffic, not that much cool air goes under the car and up into the engine, but if im driving for periods of time then it will stay cool and start up perfectly fine... does that make any sense? i think it sounds resionable... but it really dosent solve my problem.. does it lol. Ok im goign to try and take it to autozone thisweekend... What do i ask for? to get a code to see whats wrong?

Well your ECU is located inside the car behind the little cubby hole so driving won't keep it cool.

Just try to clean out the IAC valve and see if it fixes your problem.
