Coool... Why did Honda stop building it? Too expensive to produce? Or was it outlawed in racing (like every good idea that wins)?

Its the NR750, basically honda was trying to create a v8 in a class that allowed only up to 4 cylinders. I think it really was never competitive enough to warrant the added complexity of the oval cylinder design.

Until the new Ducati Desmosedici RR came out in '07 it was also the most expensive production motorcycle.

I don't know a lot about bikes, is 170 hp/liter the norm? That sounds like it would be worth the complexity of the design.

What it excelled at was having torque across the powerband, just like the v4 in my vfr750.

Currently the Ducati Desmosedici RR makes 197.3 hp with 989cc of displacement and has a dry weight of 377.0 lbs.

That is 199.5 hp/l and 1.91 lbs per HP (dry)

The race version makes 230hp with 800cc, thats 287.5 hp/l

Yeah, thats fast

I suppose so. Big(ish) displacement for such a tiny engine.

You have won a pat on the back. You will just need to use your own hands.
