So i have an 89 accord lxi F.I.
Recently my idle would start dropping to about 200 rpm So i went and adjusted the idle it would be fine for a couple of hours and suddenly drop back down again. i check my vacuum hoses and my dads a mechanic and a technique he uses is sprey WD-40 around all your vacuum hoses and if there is a leak then the idel will jump back up again for a few second then go back down adn youll no you have a leak so i did that. nothing, i dont have a clue what it is nor does my dad any ideas? much help would be appreciated |

Sounds like either a bad IAC or dirty MAP sensor. Clean the air sensor and try again. It could also be the ECU going bad. If the idle keeps changing after you adjust it, then the ECU may be resetting itself after a few hours. If there are any other random electrical glitches in the car, that may confirm the ECU.

on the throttle body there is a flat head screw that is covered by a seal kinda stuff (like gasket/rubbery) scrape it off and turn the screw to the left for a higher idol and right for a lower idol..........if it is reving up and down its your idol controlle valve.
