I dunno, I was already employed, so I didn't take it. Plus it was the summer and I would be working in the sun. That's no fun here.

You know, I didn't even think of this till now but a good low buck way around your transmission troubles is to have your transmission re-built. Your auto transmission from the factory is basically just a slushbox. You can drop your transmission and have it re-built with a shift kit and even a limited slip diff added, if you want to spend a little extra. Tell whoever re-builds it you want a hard firm shift so you can even chirp your tires into 3rd. You'll make better use of the horsepower you've got and your transmission will work more effeicently and last longer too,. Plus your dogamatic will lose some of its suck factor...

Low cost? No way. For the money you might as well just buy a brand new stick. Autos are for drag racers and commuters. If you want to do any form of road racing, you need the precision of a stick. And even a built auto will get made fun of.

check with an import specialist in the nearest metro area or look up in the yellow pages for a mechanic near you. They should only specialize in import autos if you want to find someone who knows what they are doing. Remember to tell them the year/make and your engine code. They should tell you what you need next. Don't forget if you swap to a manual trans you are going to need an ECU from a manual from the same year civic you have. I know I suggested a re-buld for your auto trans, and it was just an idea, but you should really save up for the whole motor swap. I don't know about up there but you can drive home with a B16-18 and a manual trans for about 2500-4000 down here. Remember the more exotic and more HP, the more you spend $$$.
