wow, sounds like a grounding problem, you should check the ground wires from your battery and alternator, make sure they're tight. this may be an exposed wire as well.... somewhere! do you have the check engine light on?

Is this the same Civic that won't pass emissions and has a weird idle? Seriously, chasing electrical bugs like this is going to be a huge hassle. Cut your losses and dump the car. If this car is presenting this many problems, it's just a matter of time before the whole engine/transmission goes south. Not what you want to hear, but you will be spending thousands fixing this car when instead you could have a car that is fine for the same money. Sometimes you just have to know when to let go. I'm going through the same thing with my Integra. Once I find something to replace it, I'm junking my car.

Pull your deck out and look for 3 wires; Red, Yellow, and Black. Black is obviously your ground. The other 2 are the most commonly confused wires in the bunch. Most everyone thinks that the red wire is power and yellow is accessory. Its actually the other way around. Yellow is constant power, red is accessory. Id be willing to bet that one of those wires (red or yellow) is loose, disconnected, or has exposed/torn wires. Check there first. As far as your speedo light not working, before diving into a full wire check, check the bulb itself. It could be old or loose. If its loose, its not getting a good, solid connection, which would obviously cause it to cut out. Best of luck to ya |
