Question Please help.

The syncros in third gear in my trans are shot. It is very annoying, but I have been able to get by, since I am only driving it to work and home. I am looking to fix this, I know I probably need a new clutch too. I live in South Amboy, New Jersey, if any one lives in NJ, or knows a trustworthy and affordable place to fix this, please let me know. Summer is comming soon and I would like to get out and go driving. I currently have a 89" Honda CRX with a B16A and an S1 tranny. Do I want to stay with this trans or should I change it?

I am looking to fix/change the transmission, clutch, and add a short-shift kit for as low cost as possible. If anyone can help please contact me!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can't find any small shops, go find a dealer. Some will work on a modded car, some won't. I don't know trans codes, but if this transmission came with the B16 you put in, it's best to leave it. The ratios were designed for that engine and powerband, so there's no sense in screwing with it. As for the short shift kit, personally I think there are better ways to spend performance money, but you should be able to install it yourself. You only need a few basic hand tools and an hour or so. All a short-shift kit does is change the shifter arm geometry so that the throws are shorter. The only performance gain is that it takes slightly less time to shift gears. An engine/suspension part will give you gains everywhere, not just on the shifts.
