The downpipe is the pipe that connects the headers to the cat.. someone correct me if I'm wrong but I looked at a pic of it and thats what it looked like to me

Usually when people are talking about the downpipe they are talking about the pipe that runs from the turbo to the cat on the exhaust side of the turbo.
However I think some people may refer to a test pipe as a down pipe. That usually involves the removal of the cat, which really isn't a very good idea.

TJ is right. Downpipe is the exit pipe from the turbo to the exhaust. Test pipe replaces the cat. Cats are pretty high flow, so removing them is just stupid.
Dre, you're thinking of the secondary pipe, which takes flow from the header primaries and combines it into one pipe to the cat. Last edited by 8695Beaters; 01-05-2008 at 12:11 PM. |
