Exclamation EBAY VS. AEM intake

So i have always used ebay intakes and they cost around 35$ with shipping, i had it on my accord, on my eclipse, and order one for my crx. WHAT is the big different between a short ram EBAY intake and a short ram AEM intake?

2.75 inch pipe

well the difference is going to be more like eBay intake versus any name brand intake...

eBay intakes can function...however the benefit of going with a reputable company like AEM, Fujita, Injen, Iceman etc. is that they have tested thier products and can show a gain in performance. They are usually made of higher grade materials and will fit the car they are designed for perfectly.

eBay intakes however are made to simply fit, and some do not do so very well. They are rarely tested and all too often are made of substandard materials...I remember seeing one listed as stainless steel for $29.95...you can not get stainless steel pipe unformed for that! Let alone add in a decent filter and couplers...

I am not saying there are no good intakes on eBay...but all too often it is an oversized untested substandardly made piece of junk. You will know to avoid it if you do a search on the name and type and all you get is an eBay location...even the smallest manufacturers have thier own corporate sites online.

So unless it is a used intake...if it is less than $75.00 it is probably just a waste of money...

i would think that the only real difference is the fit. yeah the shape of ebay kits fit...you buy AEM (perfect example) it has brackets that fit perfect on the labeled car. i always go with the ebay kits too...i think they work fine!!
