I just took ownership of a 2007 Accord and noticed that the power outlets only work when the ignition is in the accessory position or on.
Does anyone now if this can be modified so that the power outlets are on when the car is off ? I have a Sirius S50 radio and I leave it turned on overnight so it will record my favorite programs and music. Please Help!!!! Last edited by bugatti; 07-30-2007 at 01:04 PM. |

Simpliest fix would be to use a wire tap and find the hot wire to the outlet and then tie the other end into a constant hot.
Cost...about $2.00

Maybe its worth looking at a home dock kit for your radio. Personally i wouldn't want to hack away at the electronics of a new accord, and if you leave it in the garage for a while I don't think it will be the best for the battery.
Under certain circumstances (long snowstorm, cold temps, snowed in car for a day or two, forget to turn the radio off) that may mean your battery is drained when you need it most.

TJ its not hack...just adding a jumper wire! Now I could have told them to split the harness and wrap in new leads...etc. That would be a major hack job! ![]()

I agree with both of you that's why I'm on this page. I was hoping someone could tell me which wires to tap? I am very capable of doing the mod just don't want to go in blind.
FYI - I do have the home dock but that requires effort plus when I'm not at home (running errands or at work.....) It kind of sucks that I can't keep the radio going or cell phone charger on. Obviously, I can live with it, just thought some of the gurus here might have done his before. Thanks, for responding. |

Just tap the wire that goes into the center of the lighter...not the one on the outside...should be red or orange.
