What is a good heat wrap to use; or is it all the same? I want to know because I'm going to swap my D series for a B series, when I do that I'm going to wrap the headers, and I just want to know if there is a difference in it. Please let me know.

It's pretty much all the same. I have used different kinds on different applications, and they all work pretty good.
here you go: Thermo Tec 11002 - Thermo-Tec Header Wrap - JEGS

If you buy a DC Sports header...dont wrap it!
Mine came with a sheet of paper saying if you heat wrap it, that it will void the warranty! I dont know why...I have never heard of DC making anything crappy!

I thought that it would pretty much be the same but I didn't know for sure. So thanks for the input on that.... void the warranty... huh? thats weird, what are some companies that make headers as good as DC? If you could let me know that too that would be appreciated. Thanx.

DC is the best...there are others like edelbrock, hedman, hooker and pit. Edelbrock is a good brand, but they are just really getting into the tuner market. Pacesetter uses a lot of copycat designs and there unit for my car is almost identical to the DC unit...
Check out sport compact only.com below... Body Kits, Turbo Kits and aftermarket performance parts for sport compact cars and you can find out what is available for your ride, what kind of warranties and they also price match competitor prices...they are really good to work with!

Any idea why your wrap your header? To lower the engine bay temperature? or to protect other heat sensitive parts?

Yes... To lower engine bay temps, and "protect" heat sensitive parts... especially cause my exhaust header is in the front close to my radiator and fan.... but lower the entire engine bay temp as well, because hot air is bad air... I have a cold air intake but if the engine is hot enough to raise the temp inside the pipe the air is going to pass through it and be hot too... Thats why people wrap their header and optional down pipe... I am going to wrap my down pipe as well because it runs right under my oil pan.... and I don't want to have my oil getting any hotter than it has to...
And one more thing if your a poser and want to "look cool" then you have somebody else wrap your header cause your we-todded and can't do it yourself. |
