Default spark plug trouble

i have a 95 honda civic and my spark plug shot out of its place. it made a dent in my hood, and it did it again last week. has anyone had a problem like this before? the threads arent stripped or anything, its just like it slowly unwinds and comes out.

The last time I saw something like that was my parents 87 Pontiac station wagon, it threw a rod and shot the spark plug out.

more likely than not the threads my have a taper on them...this occurs on especially older vehicles where the plugs have been changed a lot. the top of the thread slowly wears down...most likely by overtightening.

you can fix this by using a mild thread locking compound...but dont use the high strength or you will be totally screwed when it comes time to change them again!

I'd go with a very, very mild high temp sealant, or a high temp teflon tape... NOTICE: I said MILD, that and I'd check the tightness of them probably every two or three days after that just to make sure that they stay good. If you find out that eliminates the problem after a few check ups... problem solved... hopefully.
