Default battey cable installation

yeah i just bought a set of battery wires and removed the old ones. then i realized that the new wires look completely different from the old ones. as i understand, you have to plice the new wires to hook them up properly. but i have no idea how to do that myself. so i just closed the hood and im waiting for someone who knows how to do it to either explain it to me so i can do it, or show me how. i just didnt want to ruin anything so im waiting for a more experienced person to tell me how to do it. like step by step. thats the only way ill get it done because ive never done this before. help is appreciated. thanx
