As said before, let it idle for at least 30 seconds then drive it softly until you reach full operating tempatures then feel free to treat your car how you want to.

I don't let my engine warm up... It's probably not a good idea to start it and rev it to 4000 RPM's... Oh well. Maybe it'll blow up and I could use that as an excuse to swap my motor... 6000 RPM's here we come. lol

this is just me thinking out loud here but don't engines run on oil...??? and would the wise let that oil reach operational temp and properly lubricate the motor before rolling out the garage... especially us turbo guys...
feel free to tell me if i'm wrong... |

It's quite simple really.
Where is all the oil kept when the car is not running? In the oil pan. Where is the oil pan located? WAAAAAY down at the bottom. Who here doesn't know what happens inside your engine when you turn the key? You crank starts to turn, cam(s) start to turn, water pump, oil pump, all that starts to turn. While all these things are starting to turn, all that oil from WAAAAAAYY down deep has to get to the top end so it can leak out of your spark plug hole. This takes a bit of time. How much time exactly? I don't know the answer to that. But it is just simple physics as to whether or not you should warm up an engine. Bad scenario: Push car to start line at track. Car has not been run since you drove it onto the trailer 6, 8, 20 hours ago. Whatever. Push it to the line. Flag goes up, start car. As soon as the car fires, flag drops. FLOOR IT! 8,000 RPM's here we come. RPM's = rotation. Rotation = friction. Friction = heat. Oil helps detur friction and heat. Without it, you will soon hear a loud clang and possibly some other, more scary sounds. Ruins People's Motors

You don't need to let ir run to getit going, it is a waste of gas and engine wear. what you need to do its to drive on iddle speed if you can while you are in your parking lot or a non congested street. Once you see that the engine its warm enough...drive it steadly to normal speeds
