need to know where can I obtain a ecu code reader so i can diognost my own car?

Do you know if there is a program I can get to download to my laptop for diaognostics? Is there a cable that will conect it to do this?

I use snap-on tools and I have a scanner to look at this if you would like me to. those store one have been known to damage the ecu. snap-on has all that dianostic equipment even the one the dealer uses. the cost is pricey, but worth it. upgrades also avali.trust me it works great.
