Default Paint Jobs

Can anyone give me an idea of what a full paint job for a civic will cost? I've asked my firends and none of them really know, some say 1k and some say up to 2k. i need to do some body work with it first, but just tryin to see how much i need to save up. I'm not plannin on anything radical just plain shiny black, but i am a fan of the candy colors.

Pricing is different any where you go and quality will cost you. For instance I can get a shop where I live in south Louisiana to repaint my car for $2000 and looks like factory or I can pay this other guy that I know does great work about $5000 and it will be show quality.
Just remamber when you want it painted the cheap way isn't usually the best. Shop around and find a painter you trust.

I had my previous car painted at what was supposed to be a reputable paint shop, and I did my home work on this one too. I had seen other cars that had been painted there and decided to take mine in. Talked with two guys I knew who had taken their cars in to them and their cars looked great.

So for 1400 bucks I was to get a complete job. Hand sanding, rust removal and bondo if needed, which it wasnt, full masking, primer, 3 coats of paint and 2 of clear.

The prep work was almost non existent and the paint had very tiny bubbles in it. Drips in the clear coat, paint on my rims, windows and headlights .

Because of this I was given a slight discount but all in all I was very displeased.

I decided 2 months later to take the car to a buddy of mine who had a spray booth and he let me be a part of the whole process and didn't charge me for the use of the booth. And I only had to pay for the paint.

So if you know someone who has access to a spray booth and knowledge and experience of how to use a spray gun, I would recommend doing that.

Otherwise I would spend a little extra and do a little more homework before letting complete strangers put new skin on your baby.

But in reply to your question, I know that in my area 1400 to 2k will get your car painted.

Paint is expensive. Over a grand if you want a good job done. Don't do the cheapo deals or the one-day turnarounds. They look terrrible (my Integra has over spray everywhere, even in the interior!!! There is red paint on the seatbelts and headliner. That is aggravating!!!). What color is your car now? Remember, unless you strip the engine bay, they will only paint the outside. Same with the trunk. Unless you plan on doing all that, then you may just want to keep the color you have now and get a new coat.

Well my guess is if you go to a well known car place (ex. Maco) its gunna be about $150-$250 per hour and add on how much the paint costs which varies by the colors and what type of paint and all of that good stuff.

Maaco is good for a quick turnaround or a respray. A small shop with a good reputation will do you wonders. That actually goes for any car job.

I know that if you are in South Louisiana you NEVER wanna go to Fact-O-Bake. Those are the WORST paint jobs I have ever seen in my life.

My car is black right now, and i want to keep it that way. just get it redone cuz it looks like crap right now. It needs to be bondo'd on the rust spots to. not any big spots but like 5 of them on the sides and the wheel wells

If you are keeping the same color and just doing repair work and a single color and two clears you should spend about $1500...more if you want a couple layers of color and more clear coats.

Anyone offering to do the job for under $750...RUN AWAY FROM THEM FAST!!!!!!

Hint! Put as many clear coats on the car as you can afford....this will protect the color coats and give the car the constant wet look!
