Not exactly on the as much clear as possible. You would only do it in moderation and its mostly a waste of money in my eyes. When I worked in the body shop the most we would put was 3 and that was a job in its self.
I have seen 7 coats of clear and it looked terrible. It had solvent pop in it and the rock chips on the front end looked even deeper than normal.
So all in all 2 coats possibly 3 would be plenty of product.

I agree with PT. Too much paint will look like too much paint. Plus, since we are talking about Hondas here, paint will add a lot of weight. 7 coats of clear and say 4 coats of color (numbers that have been suggested) and a coat or two of primer is probably a good 30 pounds or so. And a lot of it will end up on the roof.

Eyes, I was just using the numbers people had been throwing out. Man if you had that much paint, it could stop bullets. Like I said, PT was right with how much paint and clear you should be applying.

I was referring to the coats of clear I would apply and how many I have seen.

Your base paint job is 2 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. You can go with 3 coats of clear but it would need cure time to sand on then reshoot it. Does that make any sense?

But a really got sprayer will sand every coat!
