This is the fourth car I've driven, my family has:
'99 odyssey '05 accord '05 s2k That is important, because my only experience with manual transmissions is the s2k. Performance: Impressive, with the car loaded with 5 people (family + salesman) the car still really moved. I supried everyone by taking 2nd up to the sky, and the car flew once it hit VTEC, it was a very smooth transision though, not like the s2k, but I looked up from the tach to the speedometer, and my instant mental response was "oh sh!t" and I used the brakes to slow me back down to the speed limit. Sound: Ok, I forgot to try the stereo, but I do remember that the one on the '06 si coupe my dad test drove last year was pretty good. The sound that I remember about today was the engine. The car sounded awsome, it's like an s2k sound that is slightly , amazing. (s2k still sounds way better once you hit VTEC with the top down though) Comfort / Visibility: Good, honda good, supportive seats, they keep you held in in the turns, and still feel as if they would be good for a long cruise. The winshield was @#%*in huge, and visibility seemed to be good, with one exception, looking around bends, the A pillers are a little thick, like the ones in the Accord, due to the air bags. The wheel has great adjustability, but when driving in the 3 and 9 o clock had position, the thumb grips felt wierd, kind of flat. The wheel was very good overall, with its nice cover, quick steering, and it was pretty small too. Shifter: Now, I'm probally not the best qualified for this, beause the only other manual I've driven is the s2k. The clutch was much easier to use, it was very easy to shift smoothly right from the start. The neutral position on the shifter is a little hard to get used to because it is at an angle. The shifter easy to shift, but to me it felt like jelly. The throttle was a little touchy when reving up to let the clutch out, but overall was very good and responsive. another note, the one I test drove had navi which I thought was not put in very well, unlike the one in the RDX (with my dad when he test drove that) it was not integrated with the climate control, the buttons were small, and it just looked out of place The gauge cluster was amazing, the speedometer is in the perfect place, and I can finally see the top of the tach (s2k steering wheel dosen't move). Cliffs: Great performance AMAZING sound Good visibility (with exception of A pillar) Thumb grips on wheel kinda wierd Shifter felt like jelly to me, but it shifts well clutch and accelerator easy to use navi is not well integrated Gague cluster is perfect ohh, the habanero red color looked really nice, kind of a burnt orange.

yeah I know, we're looking at ordering one soon to make sure that no one goes crazy before break in. The one that's there had navi, and thats not worth the money IMO.
btw, the one I test drove had 50 miles on it already, so I figured that the motor had already been messed up anyways.

You realize your first car will be a 4 door car? If thats your thing then cool, but I would stick the the type S RSX. Much better choice IMO, mods are more power on the motor, It's a Acura which is creating more power in the first place, and it's not gonna kill your parents with insurance because it's not brand new. I had a brand new car, worst choice ever.

actually, they checked with the insurance company, and insurance is about the same since the RSX is a 2 door
a big factor was the safety, the new civic is much safer, and it has VSA I also won't get a chance for mods other than small things for a while anyways, and they don't want me to pay anything more for the Si. I personally like having a 4 door, since most of my friends won't be getting cars for a long time I would like a car with usable back seats. doesn't the 1st gen RSX has the same amount of power as the Si? btw, the Si Sedan IMO is one of the best looking affordable cars ever created.
