I didn't even know this. I guess an aftermarket cai is still better? |

The factory one must still have some restricitve items. When we went for a test drive the engine seemed pretty quiet.
Why don't more cars come with CAIs ![]()

Thats not a true cold air intake. Your filter is still under the hood and most cars actually do have the piece your refering to as a CAI. There is no filter in that bottem compartment, it's a tube to route the air up. A true cold air will do you a lot better.

The aftermarket one will probally have a more aggressive sound too.
The only car I know about where the an aftermarket intake isn't best is the s2000 (according to spoon) plus you can put the AEM (or whatever company) decal on your car, which makes it 10 times faster. ![]()

Haha!
I don't quite understand the difference, but I'm sure you're right. I'll have to read more about it. Now that I'm past the break-in period of 6oo miles and have been going up to 6, 7k rpm, then engine seems to be very loud! |

A new CAI will make the system slightly louder and will give power gains, especially in the higher RPM range.
The total gain will only be a few HP, but it should be noticable.
